How I Help Complex Projects Succeed
Featured case study
An Elevated Passenger Experience — eight years inside one of the largest infrastructure projects in the U.S.
Over eight years, I worked thousands of hours alongside artist Gordon Huether of Gordon Huether Studios — concept and project lead — to help envision how the client's dream of an elevated passenger experience could look and feel across the new Salt Lake City International Airport campus. My team supported the artist and the airport from earliest concept through fabrication hand-off on a suite of large-scale artworks that today greet millions of passengers a day.

Role
Design collaborator and digital designer supporting the artist's studio across concept development, presentation, coordination, and fabrication hand-off.
Artworks contributed to
Duration & scale
8 years of continuous collaboration on one of the largest U.S. airport build-outs of the era. Artworks are now fully operational and experienced by millions of travelers each day.

What my team contributed
- Multiple site visits and site documentation to assess and recommend locations for major exterior installations.
- Direct collaboration with the artist on concept development, 3D modeling, and live design presentations to the Airport Development Agency — including the Airport Director and the Mayor of Salt Lake City.
- Coordination with the airport across state and federal agencies to ensure FAA and Highway requirements were met for each artwork.
- Worked alongside the artist's engineers and fabricators to translate concepts into buildable designs, approved and coordinated across vast project teams, including logistics and design for modular sections of large-scale works shipped internationally.
- Designed and oversaw a full-scale mockup/prototype for the immersive river tunnel, which directly informed final design development.
- Produced fabrication-ready files for CNC milling, GFRC custom molds, custom illuminated signage, programmable lighting and sound, laser-cut panels, Olympic signage, 3D-bent tube paths, and color/brand alignment packages.
- Developed exhibit graphics and 3D models for several interpretation exhibit areas across the campus.
